Keep Your Paint Brush Fresh

Resume painting with no ill effects

Here's a great tip for keeping a paint brush fresh, and ready to paint.

If, for whatever reason, you are interrupted in the middle of painting and have to do something else, simply use a wet rag, fold around brush, and set aside.

  • make sure to leave no excess paint on brush before wrapping

Just follow what you see in the pictures. This folding pattern will ensure that the bristles of the brush will retain a flat posture.

    Pretty simple huh?

It's a good tip to know because there are times when you just might have to put that brush down for a short period of time, and don't want the hassle of a full cleaning. And when you pick it up to use it again, you're not faced with a dried, gummed-up mess. I would say you could leave for an hour or less, and the brush would be in fine shape.

This was one of those things I learned the hard way a (very) long time ago - but well worth repeating.
